NFL coach backs Cipriani

NFL coach backs Cipriani 09/01/2009 1:15pm

A leading American Football kicking coach has backed England star Danny Cipriani to overcome his current kicking woes.

England kicking coach Jon Callard on Monday said he believed Cipriani should look at kicking techniques in the NFL in a bid to eliminate the number of charge-downs from his kicks, which are hampering his game with both Wasps and England.

Gary Zauner, who in the 1980s helped convert Englishman Mick Luckhurst into a specialist NFL kicker and has recently worked with Australian rugby league player Cory Patterson, said: "There's the skill of kicking the ball, then the next thing is, can you do it under pressure? I would think from what I've heard about this problem it's just a question of getting him used to kicking under this kind of pressure."
